Employment

From interning at New Zealand's most popular radio station, to pizza-making, and eventually becoming a Software Engineering Intern, I've held many roles over the years.

Undertook an individual internship project over the summer; full-stack development, creating an embedded webserver application for the HTML interface to an audio server.

  • NOV 2016 - AUG 2017

    Front-of-House Staff

    Sal's Pizza

Effectively managed and ensured client orders were completed and delivered within a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Also helped train up new staff, to take on new roles.

  • FEB 2016 - JAN 2017

    Childcare Leader

    Birkdale Beach Haven Community

Supervised children aged 5 - 13 years old as part of an after-school care program run by the local community. Firstly as a volunteer, then as a part-time worker.

  • JAN 2014 - DEC 2014

    Radio Intern

    The Edge Radio Station

Assisted practically in Promotions around Auckland, as well as gaining experience in real-life broadcasting of advertisements. Great organisation was required.

Skills

Through a mix of different roles played in both high-school and University, I've been fortunate enough to develop skills important - in my opinion - to the modern state of the industry.

  • c

    COMMUNICATION

A core strength of mine, effective communication is something I have been fortunate enough to develop through many group-based projects, both in University and Secondary-School.

  • U

    DESIGN

Being able to create a valuable design - and then to further iterate over that design, to refine it to what a user needs - is a skill I have learnt both in practise and in theory, at University.

  • d

    LEADERSHIP

Having been Head Boy in Secondary-School, as well as being a part of the Dean's Leadership Programme, I've been able to hone my leadership skills, to find the balance between empathy and productivity.

  • M

    LANGUAGES

Having studied French for 5 years, alongside receiving an A+ in my Italian General Education Paper, I believe my love for languages is more than evident. I love the opportunities learning new languages brings me.

  • O

    TIME CONSTRAINTS

Having worked in a pizza-kitchen, I'm no stranger to pressure; being able to perform consistently under different time constraints is something learnt through experience, which I am lucky enough to have.

  • m

    PERSISTENCE

If there's one thing I've learnt from studying Software, it's that persistence is key to success. Bugs are never necessarily fixed as soon as you find them, and users may not like what you've done; here persistence is vital.

Education

My Education thus far, has been primarily through Secondary-School/University, with various other programmes (e.g the Rotary Science Forum), fuelling me on the side.

  • 2016 - NOW

    BE(Hons)/BCom Conjoint

    University of Auckland

Currently a third-year, Software Engineering/Economics and Finance Student. I have thus far taken papers on everything from Algorithms and Data Structures,Object-Oriented Programming, and Software Design, to Business Enterprise and Business Economics, and even Italian.

  • 2011 - 2015

    NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3

    Birkenhead College

Here, I took an array of subjects, ranging from Calculus, Physics and Maths (my strengths), to Biology and French (my hobbies). I was heavily involved both in extracurricular sports, and arts; a member of the school's Barbershop Ensemble, as well as an Auckland-wide grade-winning tennis team.

  • JAN 2015

    Rotary Science and Technology Forum

    University of Auckland

I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of 180 top students from around the country, to attend the two-week long Rotary S&T Forum. This involved seeing the work of world-leading engineers/scientists up-close, as well as the chance to network with fellow high-potential students.
